Matt Phillips Scheduled on Panel at IPWatchdog’s PTAB Masters 2026

Matt Phillips will participate as a panelist at IPWatchdog’s sixth annual PTAB Masters 2026 on January 29–30, 2026 in Ashburn, Virginia.  Phillips will appear with other experts on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and other post-grant proceedings at the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on a panel addressing the topic “The New PTAB Playbook:  Using PGR and Reexamination as Alternatives to IPR.”  This panel will address post-grant review (PGR), ex parte reexamination, and other underutilized tools that are rapidly becoming essential parts of a modern defense strategy.  Phillips remarked, “I am looking forward to sharing my perspective on the demise of inter partesreviews (IPRs) and the reinvigoration of ex parte reexamination.  Many patent owners do not appreciate that a return to reexaminations is not a favorable development.  As Billy Joel once said, ‘The good ole days weren’t always good.’”
