L&P Files Four Petitions for National Beef requesting IPR trial
Today, National Beef Packing Company filed four petitions for inter partes review (IPR) with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) against U.S. Patent Nos. 7,534,584, 8,822,143, 9,637,771, and 9,845,486. The patents are directed to methods for detectingmicrobial contamination in meat. The independent claims of three of the patents include the steps depicted below.
The patents are owned by the Institute for Environmental Health, Inc. (IEH), which asserted the patents in litigation in the District of Delaware. The cases are IPR2024-00183, IPR2024-00185, IPR2024-00186, and IPR2024-01156. L&P Lawyer Kevin Laurence and Seth Black of Black IP prepared the petitions.
